The report, describes findings from the Advisory Committee’s systematic review of the scientific evidence on physical activity, fitness, sedentary behavior, and health, and will help inform the next edition of the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans which should be released later this year.

It provides a detailed summary of the disease prevention and health promotion benefits of a more physically active America that is firmly established by the latest scientific evidence.  For the first time, the report includes recommendations for young children.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is one of the four coordinating HHS Agencies/Offices developing the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans, 2nd Edition.
