Don’t Miss Out! Conference Season is Heating Up

Get ready to pack your suitcase! Registration is open for several upcoming conferences centered on improving public policy and environments to create healthier communities.

Our friends at Active Living Research are hosting their annual conference from March 9 to 12 in sunny San Diego, Calif. The theme this year is “Niche to Norm,” looking at ways to take emerging research about active living and use it to guide decision-making across sectors to create communities that encourage physical activity.

Meanwhile, the Partnership for a Healthier America is scheduled to host its annual Building a Healthier Future Summit from March 12 to 14 at the Washington Hilton in the nation’s capital. Scheduled speakers include Roslyn Brock, chairman of the National Board of Directors at the NAACP; former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn.), Robert Ross, president and chief executive officer of the California Endowment, and Janet Murguia, the president and chief executive officer of the National Council of La Raza.

And while she isn’t officially on the speaker list, the Inside Track will note that First Lady Michelle Obama has appeared at previous PHA summits, so it is a fairly safe bet that she will make a special guest appearance.
