Call Attention to the Importance of Physical Activity in Your Community During Move More Month!

You can organize a walking tour of neighborhoods in your community with decision makers or with a reporter to highlight the differences in how safe it is to walk based on the quality and availability of safety features such as sidewalks, crosswalks and curb ramps.

Think about how to create walk-able and active communities for people of all backgrounds and abilities. Our friends at America Walks have shared a report of how some grantees are working to design for inclusive health. Learn more here.

Engage people online with a photo safari. Leverage your social media accounts to interact with your followers and ask them to share photos that show examples of places they like to be active or things in the community that make it more difficult to be active, such as lack of sidewalks, crosswalks and curb ramps.

Communities across the country have established Walk with a Doc chapters where people meet up to listen to a doctor, dietitian or community leader talk for a few minutes, ask a few questions, and go on a group walk. Learn about this and other ideas by reading this blog post that covers eight simple ways to harness the benefits of walking from Everybody Walks.
