What trends to expect in Social Media in 2018

With 2018 upon us, predicting what trends will be on top of the list for digital and marketing gurus.

iStock-639666654.jpgWhile it’s almost impossible to know what 2018 will hold for social media and digital marketing, we can at least better prepare with some strategic planning and look at trends of 2017. Filmora, a video editing company, has evaluated at the latest trends and data to give us an estimate of what to expect this year and beyond.

Filmora predicts that 80 % of global internet traffic will be attributed to video by the year 2020. While video content does capture the attention of viewers, producing quality content will be key as social media channels are now investing more in videos.

Those born between 1995 and 2012, Generation Z, have grown up in the digital world. With the digital space constantly changing, it is important to adapt to this growing audience. While video will be the trend in 2018, which channels are Generation Z using most often? YouTube takes the lead at 31%, followed by Instagram at 24%, Snapchat at 14% and Facebook at 11%.
