Two Job Openings for California-based Leaders

Do you have the winter weather blues? Maybe a permanent escape to sunny Los Angeles is the answer.

Our friends at the Active Schools Acceleration Project (ASAP) are looking for qualified applicants for two jobs based in their L.A. office. One gig is for a marketing associate, who will be charged with overseeing brand and curriculum development for ASAP programs; the second is a program design associate, who will assess and refine ASAP programs.

A project of the Tufts University-based organization ChildObesity180, ASAP is a nationwide initiative designed to increase physical activity and fitness programs in schools. Earlier this year, ASAP awarded $500,000 in cash prizes to schools, school districts and technology innovators who are leading the way in this area.

The marketing associate will lead the charge to create strong brands, curriculum and training, communication tactics and other elements to effectively package and disseminate ASAP physical activity programs to schools and educators, according to the job description. These curriculum packages will make up ASAP’s physical activity program menu, which will eventually be distributed to a national audience.

Requirements include a bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or a related field and 3 or more years of related experience. Preferred qualifications include experience directly managing product or service development, curricula creations or similar campaigns; experience in brand management and business development; experience in physical activity, fitness industry or physical education curriculum design; and experience working with schools, youth groups or other community engagement initiatives.

The program design associate will be charged with ongoing evaluation and assessment of ASAP’s programs, including enhancing and refining programs to make them more effective. According to the job description, “particular emphasis will be placed on tracking minutes of activity, reach within student population, relative exertion levels and other key data to better understand the programs and improve them.”

Requirements include a bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology, kinesiology or public health and 3 years of related experience. Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree in the fields above; experience designing and/or implementing physical activity or public health-related research and evaluation protocol, preferably with elementary school-aged children; and experience working with schools, school districts or physical education professionals.

Since ASAP is based out of Tufts, all applicants will need to use the university’s online human resources system to apply. Applicants can search for the position they are interested in by searching for the requisition number (1603 for the marketing associate; 1604 for the program design associate).
