Recess for Grown-Ups

If the folks at KEEN had their way, playtime wouldn’t be just for kids.

The footwear company is sponsoring a “Recess Revolution” in Washington on Sept. 14, urging people to take 10 minutes out of their day to get outside and have a little fun. Keen will set up shop at D.C.’s Union Station from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., where they’ll set up a “pop-up playground.”

KEEN wants people to take the “Recess Pledge,” in which folks vow to take time out of the day for short outdoor activity breaks. Organizers are hoping that business leaders, politicians, members of the media and everyday folks will take the pledge. Those who take the pledge can then upload photos of themselves "embracing the revolution" to the KEEN website.

Visit the Recess Revolution website for more information, and if you are in D.C., come to Union Station. PreventObesity.net staff will also be on hand, so be sure to stop by and say hello!
