Put to a Vote

Earlier this year, the Department of Health and Human Services launched the 2011 Healthy Living Innovation Awards, a new way for the agency to find health promotion projects that show “a significant impact on the health status of a community in the areas of healthy weight, physical activity, and nutrition,” according to the HHS website.

Now it’s up to you to help pick a winner.

Secretary Kathleen Sebelius put the call out for entries in January, and the agency received 245 innovative ideas from across the country. A panel of HHS judges then reviewed the submissions and identified finalists in seven categories, including Let’s Move Cities and Towns, Healthy Workplace and Schools (K-12).

On Monday, the agency released the list of finalists to the public, who can vote on a favorite. Visit the Healthy Living Innovation Awards website to cast your ballot. Voting ends on May 31, and winners will be named on June 30.

On the Calendar. One of the services PreventObesity.net can provide to people and organizations working on childhood obesity issues is blogger outreach and analysis. We can help you analyze which specific blogs to target to get the word out about your work, and help you come up with a plan to reach out to bloggers.
