2018 Opportunity Index

The 2018 Opportunity Index from Opportunity Nation and Child Trends uses economic, educational, health, and community life indicators to rank which states and counties across the United States offer the highest levels of opportunity for residents. According to the most recent data, opportunities for U.S. families have increased in recent years due to improvements related to the economy, education, and community life, but significant gaps by race and ethnicity remain.

2019 Kids Count Databook

The Annie E. Casey Foundation’s 2019 Kids Count Data Book uses economic, education, health, and family and community indicators to rank states based on overall child well-being. While the United States has improved many indicators of child well-being (including high school graduation rates, delayed pregnancy, and decreased alcohol and drug use), significant racial and ethnic disparities persist.
