London Calling

Astute Inside Track readers will likely remember our Q&A with Leader Desmond Fannin, the Atlanta native who is cooking up healthy dishes as the executive chef of Atlanta Public Schools.

Fannin is a culinary all-star, having prepared meals for luminaries such as former Presidents Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter and even Oprah Winfrey. Now we hear he is heading to London to assist with food preparation during the Summer Olympic Games.

When the Inside Track got in touch with Fannin via email this week, he was mum on the details, but confirmed he was going to the games to help prepare meals. He tells us he’s set to leave for London on Aug. 3, and suggested Leaders follow his journey on Twitter via @ThatSkinnyChef.

It isn’t the first time that Fannin has taken his culinary talents overseas. He was one of only two American chefs to oversee meals during the 2007 Rugby World Cup in Paris.

Ahead of the games, check out our Q&A with Fannin from February to find out how he’s transforming school food service in Atlanta (and learn who the most memorable celebrity he ever cooked for is).
