New Obesity Prevalence Maps Available from the CDC!

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has released the 2015 adult obesity prevalence maps. These maps are broken out by race and ethnicity, and truly show the disparities that are prevalent across our country.

Here are some key facts: 

  • No state had a prevalence of obesity less than 20%
  • The South has the highest prevalence of obesity rates at 31.2%
  • Based off of combined data from 2013-2015, non-Hispanic blacks had the highest prevalence of self-reported obesity at 38.1%, Hispanics were at 31.9%, and non-Hispanic whites are 27.6%
