60K Send a Strong Message to the USDA

Leaders like you helped us shatter our goals – and then some!

Working together, we sent nearly 60,000 comments to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) in support of the agency’s proposal to ban junk food marketing in schools. Because of the work of people like you, the USDA will know that tens of thousands of us want to ensure schools are healthy places for students to learn.

Originally, PreventObesity.net set a goal of collecting 40,000 comments to send to the USDA – and we were thrilled to see that more people kept signing on!

Your work on this effort will go a long way, as it will provide much-needed support to the USDA as it looks to officially finalize and implement the proposal.

Thank you to everyone who took part in this important effort, including our friends at the American Heart Association, Alliance for a Healthier Generation, Berkeley Media Studies Group, MomsRising, the Center for Science in the Public Interest, Leadership for Healthy Communities, Food and Water Watch, ChildObesity180, AASA, the Lunch Tray, Care2, National Association of County and City Health Officials, Bag the Junk, Prevention Institute, California Center for Public Health Advocacy, Salud America, TakePart, Teach a Kid to Fish, Moms on the Hill, Participant Media, Youth Empowered Solutions, You’re the Cure and everyone else who shared the campaign.

Be sure to follow us on Twitter and Facebook for any breaking news as the USDA works to finalize the proposal.
