Last Chance! Help us Create a #SweeterSummer

This week is your last chance to pledge to make one change in your community that reduces children’s intake of sugary drinks. If you haven’t taken action yet, please do so today!

We’ve been impressed and inspired by the number and quality of pledges across the country. So far, more than 18,000 people have taken the pledge!

PreventObesity.net Leaders contributed to ten blog posts about their work across the country. Most recently, we heard from:

  • Robin Dean, who is working with leaders in San Francisco to pass a soda tax
  • Yvonne Choyce, who uses children’s books to inspire healthy eating habits
  • Amelie Ramirez, who leads a project at UT San Antonio using research to highlight--and encourage action on--the obesity epidemic’s unfair impact on Latino children
  • Tracey Conner, who uses puppet shows to teach kids throughout Florida why they should choose water, not sugary drinks

Each of these Leaders has a great story to share, and we encourage you to read the full series.

Last week we worked with MomsRising to highlight the negative impact of sugary drinks on a #FoodFri Tweetchat. Thanks to all of you who participated and made it such a success.

In the coming weeks, we will launch our next campaign, petitioning state nutrition leaders to strictly implement Smart Snacks in Schools. We hope we can count on each of you to participate in this upcoming campaign.
