Deadline Approaching for White House Healthy Lunchtime Challenge

Know a young chef with a talent for healthy cooking?

Time is running out for culinary artists between the ages of 8 and 12 (and their parents or guardians) to submit their entry for the White House Healthy Lunchtime Challenge. The annual recipe contest seeks to find original lunch recipes that are “healthy, affordable, and tasty,” and the winners are invited to attend the Kids State Dinner at the White House, where a few of the top dishes will be served.

The contest is a partnership between First Lady Michelle Obama and her Let’s Move campaign, the U.S. Department of Education, the U.S. Department of Agriculture and Epicurious. According to the entry form on the Epicurious website, recipes should aim to be healthy, delicious, original, affordable and meaningful. Contestants should make sure to use resources available on ChooseMyPlate.gov to ensure their dish meets nutrition guidelines.

Entries must be received by 11:59 p.m. Eastern time on Saturday, April 5. Click here for more information on the contest and to apply
