Next Goal: 40,000 Comments

More than 34,000 people already have raised their voice to support banning junk food marketing in schools. But with your help, we know we can exceed 40,000 comments!

PreventObesity.net hit its goal of collecting 25,000 comments to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to lend support to the agency’s proposal to limit the marketing of unhealthy food and beverages in schools. Many PreventObesity.net Leaders have already taken action, and some of you have even sent the campaign to your own network of email contacts and grassroots supporters.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

The more people who take action and tell the USDA they favor banning junk food marketing in schools, the more likely the USDA will implement the proposal. Unfortunately, we know that some food and beverage marketers are pressuring the agency to adopt weaker standards – we need to band together and tell the USDA to do the right thing for our kids!

Together, we can make a difference. Here are ways you can continue to help:

  • Send an email to friends, colleagues, supporters and others to ask that they take action and spread the word about the campaign. You can email our Zach Brooks at [email protected] to obtain a unique tracking URL that will tell you just how many comments you helped generate.
  • Spread the word about the campaign on social media. We even already have the language ready for Twitter and Facebook!
  • Take action. If you haven’t done so yet, what are you waiting for? Tell the USDA you believe the school environment should be as healthy as it can be, and that includes getting rid of unhealthy food and beverage marketing.

Thanks once again to those Leaders who already have sent a comment to the USDA and shared the campaign with their networks. Together, our voices will be heard.
