Healthier Drinks in Lafayette, CO Kids’ Meals

Did you hear the news? Great news from Colorado! The Lafayette City Council approved Ordinance 40 that requires all restaurants that offer kids’ meals to make healthy drinks the default beverage. Lafayette is a city in Boulder County outside of Denver with a population of about 25,000 and is officially the first city outside of California to pass a kids’ meal ordinance!

This campaign was run by a tremendous coalition and supported by the American Heart Association. Thanks to the leadership of Lafayette Youth Advisory Committee and active supporters from WOW! Children’s Museum, Sister Carmen Community Center, East County Empowerment Center, Clinica Campesina, LiveWell Colorado, Dental Aid, Center for Science in the Public Interest, Ninjas for Health, and Boulder County Public Health.

Without this kind of grassroots coalition, our work would not be possible. Congrats, Lafayette advocates!
