Arizona-Grown Fruit and Vegetable Incentive Bill Sent to Governor for Signing

Breaking news out of Arizona: the SNAP fruit and vegetable match appropriation bill (SB1245), also known as the Let’s Grow Arizona campaign, is on its way to Governor Ducey for signing!

The bill was introduced in the Arizona legislature on January 18th, 2018. SB1245 appropriates $400,000 of the state general funds to the Arizona Department of Economic Security, the SNAP implementing agency in Arizona, for the administration of a produce incentive program for SNAP enrollees to purchase Arizona-grown fruits and vegetables.

This is the first state investment of its kind in Arizona. This win was the result of a large network of partners actively engaged in advocacy efforts from across the state, strong media presence, and the cross-sector engagement from farmers, health care, and the community!
