The AEA Outstanding Evaluation Award acknowledges outstanding organizations and outstanding work in policy evaluation. The Voices for Healthy Kids evaluation team included more than a dozen senior evaluators from Johns Hopkins, Harvard, and Portland State Universities, as well as Synthesis Professional Services, Inc., Barker Bi-Coastal Health Consultants, Inc., and the Gretchen Swanson Center for Nutrition. The award was accepted by George Grob, President of the Center for Public Program Evaluation, LLC, on behalf of Voices for Healthy Kids.

Voices for Healthy Kids provides leadership and support to policy advocacy groups to convince state legislators, mayors, and councils of large metropolitan cities to adopt policies (legislation, regulations, and management initiatives) conducive to making each day healthier for all children. Examples include promoting healthier kids meals in schools and restaurants, eliminating the marketing of unhealthy foods and beverages in schools, and promoting more frequent, effective physical education in schools as the cornerstone of comprehensive physical activity before, during, and after the school day.

Policy makers in states and localities where Voices for Healthy Kids advocates are active have enacted 147 legislative, regulatory, or management policies since the start of the Voices for Healthy Kids initiative.
