Job Openings at the Safe Routes to School National Partnership

Looking for a new start in the new year? Our friends at the Safe Routes to School National Partnership (SRTS) have two new full-time positions open that are expected to begin in January 2013.

The first position is a School and Family Engagement Manager who will oversee a new national initiative titled “Fire Up Your Feet.” The comprehensive, grassroots educational program is designed to provide help to school communities in order to improve the local built environment and create policy changes to increase physical activity opportunities for kids and families in school settings.

The job location is “in your home office,” although additional consideration will be given to candidates living in Colorado or California. Experience in fundraising and a bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public health or related fields is preferred. Click here for more information and to apply.

SRTS also is looking for a Communications Manager to oversee the communications and marketing objectives of the organization. The manager is charged with executing the program’s online marketing tools, including websites, newsletters and social media, as well as assisting with all types of external communications.

As with the School and Family Engagement Manager, the job’s location is flexible, but additional consideration will be given to candidates living in the Boston, Washington, D.C., and San Francisco areas. Click here for more information and to apply.

The final deadline for applications is Friday, Nov. 30 at 1 p.m. Eastern.

Required qualifications for both positions include a bachelor’s degree, knowledge of Safe Routes to School, transportation and health issues and strategies related to childhood obesity, a minimum of two years of proven success in a programmatic or online communications position, strong communication and writing skills, and the ability to excel in relationship building.
