Contribute to the “Be Active Your Way” Blogger Community

The Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (ODPHP) invites PreventObesity.net Leaders like you to submit blog posts that promote the ways your organization is addressing the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans.

Contributed posts will appear in the Be Active Your Way blogger community, allowing people and organizations to connect and discuss news, events and reports related to fitness and wellness. The goal of the blog is to “stimulate dialogue among professionals working toward encouraging Americans to get the physical activity they need,” according to the ODPHP, which is within the Department of Health and Human Services.

The blogging event is scheduled to kick-off in January. Topics for posts can range in focus, from specific initiatives an organization has undertaken to make a community safer for play and exercise to news from a major health and wellness conference to analysis of a news article about the importance of physical activity. Other suggested topics include New Year’s resolutions, the upcoming Winter Olympics, American Heart Month in February and National Nutrition Month in March.

If you are interested in becoming a BAYW blogger, contact the blog team by Friday, Dec. 13 at [email protected]. Submissions are not yet due; the BAYW team is looking to set the weekly schedule for the next six months.

Posts that are eventually submitted should be limited to 500 words, use active voice and avoid any political or endorsement language. Writers also are encouraged to invite discussion by ending posts with a question and share photos or videos, when applicable.
