Dishing Up the Details About Food Day

More details are being cooked up for Food Day, a grassroots mobilization effort sponsored by our friends at the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI).

Scheduled for Oct. 24, the big day will see communities across the nation stage events and activities in an effort to promote improved food policies, from healthy diets to local community food worries to big agriculture. In Seattle, for example, 100 public schools will mark Food Day with a special, healthy menu item. In Philadelphia, a city-wide event will focus on ending hunger and food deserts. And in Syracuse, N.Y., officials are organizing a festival to celebrate the city’s local food heritage.

More information on Food Day can be found here, including a list of events happening across the country. But The Inside Track wants to know what our leaders are doing to mark the occasion. Are you hosting an event in your community? What food issues do you think folks should discuss during food day? Send us an email and let us know what is on your agenda. We’ll compile a list of fun activities happening in the PreventObesity.net network and share them as Food Day approaches.
